Last night Abby started out with a low grade fever. By midnight it was 102.2 so we called the neurosurgery resident on call at UVA who told us to take her to the local ER. There they did a flu test, a strep test, a chest x-ray, a CBC, and a urinalysis. Her CBC showed elevated white blood cells, but nothing too alarming. Other than that, everything was negative. While there, they got the fever to break with Tylenol which is a good sign. They called it a virus and sent us on our way at 4 am and told us to give her Tylenol every 4 hours around the clock. She and Ken are still sleeping at 9:44 a.m. =)
Keep the prayers coming that this doesn't turn into some sort of nasty post-op infection.

- This blog is about our life with Abby. When Abby was 13 months old, she was diagnosed with lipomyelomeningocele or a tethered spinal cord. Our adventure started in February, so if you want to read from the beginning, that is where you should start. While Abby's diagnosis falls under the heading of Spina Bifida, this could not have been prevented by folic acid the way myelomeningocele spina bifida can be. Hey Eileen,
I called you this morning to check in and see how everyone was doing only to hear you spent the night in the E.R.:( I will pray that this is just a virus. Keep us posted (in all of your spare time...) Call me when you have a chance;)

Any changes? Abby could have picked up something at the hospital (obviously). Keep us posted when you have the time and energy.
The fever seems to be under control with Tylenol for now. We follow up with her pediatrician on Monday, unless it gets above 101 with the meds. I'm wondering if it is her body's way of telling her to slow down. She's been NON stop since we got home. Today she's been cuddly and just chilling out, so that is good.
We heard you were headed back to the hospital. Please update us when you can or text/call me at 740-503-1884.
