First let me tell you all that I do not wish the stomach flu on any of you. Abby came down with it Tuesday afternoon, I had it all Wednesday night and into Thursday, Ken got it Thursday morning while we were getting ready to leave for the EMG.
Luckily, my mom had already scheduled the day off to come with us, so she and I set off to UVA with Abby in tow. We arrived a little late due to some traffic issues, so they got us right back.
The doctor doing the test was kind enough to tell us what they were looking for (nerve and muscle function) to use a baseline for the future. He also told us that he has a 16 month old daughter, so he felt twice as bad doing this.
The test was awful! They stuck a needle into Abby's leg four times on each leg. When the needle was in, I had to turn on the electric current that sent shocks to her muscles and nerves and showed how they were responding. The end result was that she does have muscles and nerve functioning in her legs. The study will be listed as incomplete though because obviously, if you stick a needle into a 14 months old leg, she isn't going to sit still.
The good news is that it was over quickly. Urology is scheduled for April 13th.

That test sounds terrible! Poor Abby. I'm sure it hurt you too just watching her go through that! I'm glad the results were good.
